Despite our best efforts, Margaux's great letter, and Tricia's call we
couldn't do anything with Concord Community Music School as they
don't really have kids there in the summer.

I contacted the Concord YMCA and had much better luck. We're
going to do a contest to win 2 concert tix that Alicia has generously
donated ( very nice gesture). We're working on getting more
tix from the venue as well, and if we raise enough money will buy
some more (Tricia also has offered a nice deal ). The kids are
going to decorate boxes for entries at the two sites (one has 90
kids, the other 30). Kids will submit either a picture they've drawn of
Taylor or a write up on why they'd like to attend the concert as their
"entry form". We'll combine all the entries in a book for Taylor at end
of contest. We can either award tix based on best entry (whoever
put most thought/effort into it) or random, or both if we get more tix.
The guy at the Y is very into this idea, likes Taylor, and has been
really responsive. We'll also give them a small check if we raise enough.

How nice it is to hear that the guy at the Y likes Taylor and is really into the idea!

Sounds like a great plan! I hope to see the pics they draw before the show!

Any way they can be photographed so we can all see? or photographed for a scrap book for t\Taylor?
Would love photos of the winning entries.....

think I actually prefer this idea -  these kids may need to experience Taylor's musicial world more than the music school students - -
have found it interesting over the past year that when young people are exposed to the music that corporate radio station programers say won't fly with them - - they like it !

maybe eventually the music industry's patronizing attitude of "you'll know what you like when we force feed it to you " will find themselves up against a generation with a mind of it's own - -
believe that Taylor does truly love kids but also think it is no accident that he has done as many of the Grammy School related sessions as he has - - -  marathon = building a career one true fan at a time -and - educating one young fan at a time maybe - - - - - - - - -

I totally agree re kids forming their own opinions of what they like.
If they're fans when they're younger it can only get better for Taylor.

This has turned out well, sorry I have been too strung out with work and other projects to be of much help. When it comes time to pick up the entries, let me know. And if there is a PSA about this, I have a couple places in mind to send it...

We're really hoping Chakra will step up and donate more tix so a lot
of kids can go :huggy: If they do, we'll pull together a quick
PSA (or that can be a bribe to get them to?) and it would be great if
you knew where to send it Margaux!

I am donating 2 tickets to this also...just need to look at them to see where they are located.
