Karen -- there is some discrepancy between what your information for Concord is, and what the website says is available. I am seeing 516 seats available on the website... the house is 1300 seats.. the difference is 784. Now there may be seats being held and not for sale, by 7th Chakra, by the band, I'm sure.....
8-2-07  plucked a few tail feathers off my crow due to confirmed reports of radio mentions if not outright ads  in Portland & Concord Wink

Portland is doing much better than Concord. Part of the problem is that Taylor's publicist has been slow to respond to the promoters requests for things and everything has to be approved through them. I will be talking with Chakra on Thursday as they are out of town until then and will hopefully have more detailed information.
Karen

- - - is this a sideline business for them ?  - - -  availability and response issues - hmmm - - -

Karen I promise I am not trying to put you in a difficult position but the publicist comment sounds so CYA !?

they asked for help yet didn't get posters printed  and delivered  to the FREE labor - - certainly didn't need permission to do that - - we learned that posters were not even printed to be given out even though they had been asked for them in a very reasonable time frame to have gotten that done

they do not respond to requests for information or posters in anything close to a normal business response  time - suspected it might be because they were not around to do so and now that seems likely

if the poster situation hadn't been such a mess I would gladly give them the benefit of the doubt on the other questions - -

just can't get over not taking advantage of free labor and any free publications I guess - - maybe have worked on too many community projects with shoe-string budgets over the years   Tongue

have been reading at various places online including those unrelated to Taylor and have seen a number of items about concert sales being slow this summer -   seems like being out there with inexpensive things like posters and free publication PSAs for as long a period as possible would help with any paid promotion closer in

seems like too many to be held back for that size venue though doesn't it ?  - - wonder if they simply gave Karen the reversed number by mistake ? ?  - - guess I'd assume the venue has the latest figures

A friend of mine was in Portland last week and heard Taylor's concert being promoted on the radio. I hope it isn't too little, too late. I agree with Seger's CRAZY and STUPID comment re the promotion and salesmanship. I don't understand.

Interesting - can we find out which radio station this was?

I would like to discuss this offline. I have reported what I have been told by the promoter.

Please PM me if you would like to discuss this topic

Thank You!

Karen
I am not going to the RI and CT shows but I am curious about ticket sales there too. Does anyone know if they are both close to sell-outs?
Thanks.

I keep thinking back to the PACKED house at Hampton Beach and all the folks I spoke with outside and inside the Casino Ballroom who were seeing Taylor for the first time...men who came WITHOUT women, parents with young kids, and many who just loved what Taylor showed them on AI. I sat in the middle of the room and was thrilled at the mix of the crowd I saw all around me and more importantly their response...they were really into Taylor....really impressed! New Hampshire showed him some love on April 5 and I sure hope he gets more of the same on August 17! Heart Heart
Karen,
hope you know that no one is doubting you or being unappreciative of all the effort you have made on Taylor's behalf - - - Huggy
just modified my post a bit but hate to delete it because think people should know that the promotion for these shows is not out there - - at least not yet - - we'll see - I never have any problem backing down and apologizing - - sincerely hope both shows are a sell out and I have to do that  Smile

and very close to the current southern Maine and NH shows  - which is another reason they needed strong promotion to reach New people
have been trying to educate myself a bit on concert tours and the habits of concert goers - -
one thing seems really clear - - fans like the SP who go to multiple shows of an artist are Definitely Not the norm - shocker huh ?  Haha

by "normal" concert tour standards - - this tour is very, very close on the heels of Taylor's Spring tour
especially since with few exceptions it is following the same basic highways and byways so is sometimes tapping into a fan base that may have done all they are able to do for now - - shows like Elkhart Fair in Goshen and Branson are closer to being virgin territory and did extremely well

have seen several references re: a definite learning curve when booking a new touring artist as far as picking appropriate venues - -  but seems in general all areas have idiosyncrasies that should be taken into consideration by a good booking agent - - like not booking Atlantic City on a Sunday night for example - - that was something I read that was unrelated to Taylor's show there btw

this is a really simplistic listing - - lots more to be absorbed  Wink - - Margaux - and any other regular concert goers please jump in

Obviously we are all a little frustrated by what looks like a complete lack of promotion and passing of the proverbial buck -- the one thing all of us want is for Taylor to do well and to keep coming back here!  I know that's what I want.

Ladies, maybe what we need to do is, next go-round, start our own promotions company?  I think we could do a much better job, in fact I think we've proven that already, and since we're so possessive of Taylor it would probably make us all feel better to help him more directly!  Now all we gotta do is convince him... NESPromotions, Inc. Grin  Sounds good, huh?

In the meantime, let's keep doing what we're doing -- Amy's got a plan to get more airplay, the posters seem to be helping, and don't forget that old standby, word-of-mouth!  If there is anyone left who isn't sick of you talking up Taylor, get to it!  Smile  Let's stay positive, and stay active!

Amy, she can't remember which station she was listening to in Portland. Obviously, she didn't know how important that would be to us. Shy
