I just read that Taylor's show in Houston on August 5 is
cancelled! This seems so last minute and I feel very sorry for all those who were travelling/flying/hotels etc.....well I feel sorry for anyone who had tickets! Reason stated was scheduling conflicts and I imagine the decision doesn't fall solely on Taylor....ticket holders on HQ say it was due to poor ticket sales at the (?) 2400 seat Verizon venue.
I hope the promotion company 7th Chakra gets on the ball with pimping the show
ASAP on radio and print media!
Margaux and Karen.....PLEASE keep us posted on sales....I was under the impression that Portland was doing better than Concord so far.
Fingers and toes crossed....we certainly have done our part to promote these shows!

That is not good news at all.. Houston is a major metropolitan area, and 2400 seats is not that large of a venue.
I think summer is a tough time all around, I don't know about the south, but summer is very busy in the Northeast, between vacations and the summer-only venues. I would feel much better about ticket sales if Taylor was here between October and April.
Portland is doing much better than Concord. Part of the problem is that Taylor's publicist has been slow to respond to the promoters requests for things and everything has to be approved through them. I will be talking with Chakra on Thursday as they are out of town until then and will hopefully have more detailed information.
I will keep you posted. Portland is already at 700. They are shooting for 900 to 1000 - at least which I think they will have no problem doing.
Karen
I find it hard to believe that Taylor's publicist has to approve advertising, using the templates they've already used, and getting listed FOR FREE in the weekly entertainment sections. When will we see ads? Why are "they" out of town if they have shows in two weeks?
sorry to sound skeptical... but I'm used to seeing posters for Capitol Center shows all over town, and the only ones I've seen are the ones I put up.. and I'm used to seeing advertising in the weeklies..
Concord has sold 60 percent of the house so that's 780 tickets...
Out of town...out of town????
WTF?
I'm trying to remain really calm here as I have a friend flying in from Wisconsin to attend the Concord show. I will be really upset if they do end up canceling that show due to poor ticket sales because the promotional company doesn't seem to be able to do their job. We've all but done it for them - wrong, we have done it for them.
Can I send them a bill for my mileage reimbursement?
***On my knees praying***....
PLEASE don't cancel in New England...Please don't cancel in New England...

I have three really good friends who were going to Houston. They had booked rooms, made plans to meet others, taken time off work, etc. They are really bummed. Folks on HQ discouraged since this seems to be happening more than it should... Sorry to be so down, but this is not good at all.
Concord has sold 546 as of earlier today
I remember reading that the Houston venue has a history of low sales on Sunday nights....August 5th is a Sunday but school is out and Sunday seems like a better night for a concert than Tuesday....right?
I'm glad Concord is on a Friday but it pi**es me off that Margaux is used to seeing Capitol Center promos around town and there are
none other than the ones she hung.....CRAZY and STUPID....where is the promotion and salesmanship?

In my gut and heart I doubt that Taylor and/or the management will cancel only because he is in the NY and NJ area before and after Concord whereas with Houston, it was to be the fifth show in a row and he had to get all the way to Watertown, NY a few days later.
AllyKat....I'll be doing the same thing....praying!
