Hi All -

I made it back from my last minute decision to go to Staten Island. I'm going to make this a multi-installment recap because my computer at home is not working so I am writing this from work.

I had an amazing weekend - Concord and Staten Island. We had commented that we had never done just one Taylor concert and I guess I just couldn't stand it being a solo act either. Andrea and I hit the highway at about 11:45 am on Saturday after securing a pair of balcony seats. Mapquest said it would take us a little over 5 hours but that does not take into account for traffic! New York has traffic!!! Many many cars...many many tolls...minutes ticking by. We finally arrived at the St George Theatre at 8:30 pm. Thank GOD for an opening act of we would have been late to see Taylor and I probably would have had a nervous breakdown of sorts in the parking lot after the struggle to get there. I did discover that cameras were not being allowed as someone was returning theirs to their car as we arrived.

I'll break here - write more later. Smile
The neglected recap - - -

Andrea recognized a few people there as did I. I found Marcy & Candy inside by the ladies room and briefly spoke to Stephen (themerchguy) as we headed to find out seats. I must say that Staten Island brought a whole new perspective on Taylor. I laughed as I said to Andrea "So this is what it feels like to be the girlfriend and be seated near the back of the room so no one can see you." We were in the first balcony in about the 5th row with a couple of rows behind us but we were on the aisle. I figured I would have a perfect opportunity to dance as there was no one directly behind us. I was wrong of that. The man in the first row of the 2nd balcony insisted that I sit. Funny thing was, I was the only one standing during most of the show anyway. No one else in the balcony was on their feet at all. I just don't get some people...well, I don't get most people but that's a whole other recap. The show was good but we're not talking NESP good here. The energy was there and of course, Taylor danced his little heart out. I KNEW he said "I'm single and ready to mingle" and when I leaned over to Andrea to tell her that she said "No...he couldn't have said that." Um, yeah...he did. I'm still wondering about that...but anywho...He did this hilarious chest shake thing that well if I did it would probably knock someone out or over. He did lose his earpiece at one point and had to come off the stage for a minute or two and get a new one. That was during Compared to What but the band definitely overcompensated for him not being on stage. At the end, he tagged a little of "Ooh wah ooh wah cool cool kitty - tell us about the boy from New York City" which was very cute.

I'm trying very hard to remember stuff from the actual show...I was very tired and I'm sure as time goes on I will remember. He did ask if it was pronounced "Staten Island or STATEn Island..." to which I remember thinking "That was pretty lame Taylor...":haha:
Hey, it's weird you should say that about hearing Taylor say "I'm single and ready to mingle"
because my cousin kept telling me that's what he said during part of a song when we were watching the Concord concert! And it did sound like that to me too!
What's up with that!?
Then we shouldn't have gotten that gift for Caroline in Torrington?
Well, I'm sure the boys are enjoying the potpourri & candles! Wink
