Our Big E tickets came in today's mail! (DHunny got 2 free tickets through his work )
They came along with a brochure, where I found out...
For those of you who are fans of either horses and/or men in uniform (or men in uniform on horses!).. the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be appearing Friday and Saturday 9/28 and 9/29 during the 1 pm and 6 pm Draft Horse show, and in the 5 pm daily parade.
The BigE MartinE bar is located at the Italian Pavilion (and to think the Minnesota State Fair never had anything more exciting than the Leinenkugel Beer Garden).
Montgomery Gentry is a "ticketed" concert on Friday 9/28 (price $30).
Joan Jett was last night (free), Brooke Hogan 9/22, Josh Turner 9/23 and Chuck Negron of 3 Dog Night, 9/24-27.
This year's butter sculpture will be a classic milk delivery truck.

Cathy - since I'm coming from Maine I cannot assist you with a ride. You might want to post your plight on the Boogie board however. You might discover someone heading up from the south that could help you that might not post here. Good Luck!!!

The butter sculpture thing is a riot!09-16-2007, 09:38 AM
Thankyou for the warm reception I'm getting from all of you great Soul Patrolers. No one really understands what an amazing community of people we are. If any of you ever come in NJ for a concert, I have a terrific house you can stay at or I can pick you up for a ride. I've been blessed that Taylor has been within my area of 2 1/2 hours quite a few times this tour.
Thankyou so much. I really do hope I get to come to the concert and meet you.
Thanks again.
I really appreciate you all alot.

Can we lick the butter sculpture?
Seriously.... What do they do with all that butter when it's over? Maybe the Vermont dairy farmers get into Speedos and have a wrestling match greased up with the butter!

Oh, now there's a thought to start my day!

Seger -- your imagination scares me sometimes.
I think I'd prefer to see the Mounties in that rassling match
....
This butter sculpture thing seems to be a fair tradition in dairy states. At the Minnesota fair, they always did a butter sculpture of Princess Kay of the Milky Way...

I am smack dab in the middle of the Vermont dairy region. This would not be pretty, believe me. Farmers are hard workers and I have a lot of respect for them, it is a hard life and most of them show it in their looks. No way do we want to see them in Speedos.
Maybe they melt down the butter and use it at the Maine booth for lobster?? This would interest me more than half-naked farmers !! I love lobster !
