Local music writer blogged about the anniversary of Katrina this week...

Since the storm, I have spent countless hours immersed in the wonderful New Orleans and Louisianan music of the past because what greater therapy is there than music?

Thanks Mari. I remember having lunch at a little sushi bar in Manchester on a Sunday 2 years ago, with CNN on, watching the officials telling everyone to get out of town immediately. Of course a lot of people had no good way to leave.

Nice reminders on c2what.com today check out John Boutte
remake of Louisiana 1927 ...like Taylors verson better but Johns
got a nice bluesy tone to it.We should all be so thankful none of
us had to experience that terrible storm.Plus side of it all we got
Taylor.Smile
Tom and I made some really good friends while in B'ham. A couple from LA that have so much in common with us it was spooky. Anyway, we were in awe of some of their Katrina stories. They had to retrieve and move their very pregnant daughter out of harm's way in the back of their station wagon. I will be thinking of all those people today.. and yes, thankful we don't have that kind of weather here.
Am posting a link to the thread started by bluzkat to tell us about a project Whomping Pawz is doing for the New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund

I always feel helpless when I think about the on-going tragedy of Katrina and how much still needs to be done but this is something I Can do

all of us who love music owe a special debt to the musicians - past and present - of NOLA
so I am making a one time request to help make a difference for just one day if you possibly can
