I just saw a commercial for Joe Cockers new CD coming out and one of the songs he sings is "Leave your Hat on" from the Full Monty!
Tay would be sexy as hell singing that song! LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!

That is my all time favorite song of Joe Cocker oohhhh my yes
Taylor could nail that one.
One of my favorite Joe Cocker songs too - - think it is more than just the lyrics that makes the song so appealing though - - for me at least that _steady_driving_beat_ goes a long way to setting the "mood"
absolutely agree Taylor could do an incredible job with this song - - [ there's a nice little sax bit for Brian in there too ] - - but even though he has gotten a lot freer and more comfortable on stage with the Thud factor - for lack
of a better term - - I really wonder if he is ready yet to do a song this suggestive "straight up" ? or would he feel compelled to play with it and ham it up ? and that would be OK too I guess

just a idle thought - - -
here's some "more than you probabaly wanted to know about the song" information
beginning with a link to a handy little mp3 player link of Cocker - [ Rhapsody player not needed this time, btw ]

You Can Leave Your Hat On was written by Randy Newman and was first released by him on his 1972
Sail Away album - - he's a prolific songwriter with a pretty diverse catalog - think
Short People all the way to

not to put too fine a point on it but the version used in the 1997 movie The Full Monty is actually done by Tom Jones - - here's the movie moment for you to relive

YCLYHO was also used in the rather controversial 1986 movie
9 1/2 Weeks, and Joe Cocker did do that soundtrack - - a still relatively unknown Kim Basinger dances to the song in this clip from the movie

I could swear I once had an earlier recording with Joe Cocker's version but the earliest I can find a reference to is his
Cocker album released in 1986 - same year as the movie
was just having an insomnia induced thought about it being an interesting coincidence that this song should be mentioned now since this week has been a sad anniversary of Katrina reminding us how much devastation there still is in NOLA and other Gulf shore areas - -
as I mentioned above
You Can Leave Your Hat On was written by Randy Newman who also wrote
Louisiana 1927 which is about that horrible flood
and that circles back to Taylor as he has covered the song pre-Idol and now more recently in NOLA
thought some of you might be interested in a side-by-side sampling
