I love this man's voice and charm...he passed away this morning.

Although I am not an opera buff, my (half) Italian father introduced me to Pavarotti many years ago and I own several CDs. His version of O Holy Night is one of my favorites and I loved the concert CD he did with the Three Tenors in LA in 1994....I remember watching it on PBS and he was the star of the show!!!
Yes, that is sad. He certainly had a gift, and will be missed by many.
Very sorry to see this - had seen some references to his health issues but still always a shock - - tend to think of people of his caliber as ageless I guess - - the Three Tenors concert with Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti is one of my all time favorites - - he will be greatly missed !
ETA: here's a link to the story of the Three Tenors if anyone is curious

Sad sad news. Pavarotti did better than anyone in our era at being a classical musician of the highest caliber, and a popular artist, keeping opera in the public eye. He had the right combination of talent and personality to be one of the biggest stars in the world.
Such a loss.
This is very sad news. I had not even heard he was having health issues.
Pavarotti was an innovator when it came to popularizing classical music, which is much more popular outside the US and in I believe. And he may have had one of the best voices of all times. There is alot some current musical performers could learn for listening and studying him.
