I saw Keith on CMT the other nite they showed alot of his live concert in Atlanta...anyway it's the first time I really ever gave him a listen
mainly because I'm not a country music lover at all.I have to say he
didn't sound country at all,in fact he is really rock and roll,at least
that show was.The songs he did was Stupid Boy,Faster Car and Rainin on Sunday.I ran to computer a listened to some more but
I'm not sold on him yet.
I was raised on country music and the only live acts I had ever seen prior to Taylor were country. I'm learning a lot about music but remember - you can take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl. Wink Sometimes on a long road trip, finding a country station feels like home and I will listen to it to take a break from the pop crap. It just sort of breaks down in my head a little easier.
I first started hearing about Keith Urban from a Jackson Browne e-mail list I subscribe to, they described him as a country singer that Jackson Browne fans would like.. I watched his Austin City Limits, and decided he was easy enough on the ears and eyes to notice.

My problem with him now is that my usual station plays the same two songs of Keith's over and over.

Margaux Wrote:
My CD of the week is PLAY IT AS IT LAYS by Patti Scialfa, singer in the E Street Band, and wife of The Boss.    She's a great singer and songwriter in her own right, I'm sure she gets great coaching from Bruce.    Her voice is distinctive and soulful, and of course she has a top notch backup band including Nils Lofrgren from E Street on guitar and Mr. Springsteen on miscellaneous instruments.

The first song on the CD "Looking for Elvis" is the best song I've heard so far this year:

"I'm just looking for inspiration, looking for something to rock my soul
looking for a brand new destination, looking for Elvis down a Memphis road"

He's probably not giving her too much info, they are separated! LOL

LuvMyTay -- I had heard the rumor of Bruce and Patti being separate a few months back, but they both denied it. They have a big tour coming up, both have CDs releasing this season... do you have current information?
My sister was always a big Bruce fan growing up. When I was in 9th grade for English we had to do a biography and come to class as that person. I picked Bruce Springsteen, and I wore my sisters t-shirt with his face on it. Sorry, I just couldn't get myself to look like Bruce no matter how hard I tried!
The DH has "discovered" Marc Cohn--the "Walking in Memphis" guy...remember him?  Marc's influences are Van Morrison, Ray Charles and Jackson Browne--sound like someone else we all love and care about?  Marc is married to an ABC news correspondant (cant remember her name right now)...but doesnt that sound familiar too?  Marc was born in '59....some 17 yrs before our beloved Soul Man...anyway, if you dont know his music, he does have a new album coming out in a few weeks and then he's going to tour.  I may ck him out...but my Heart belongs to Tay!  Huggy

Well it's Monday and I've just received another good find.Willie J.Laws
Running out of Lies. Two wonderful remakes of Angie by Mick Jaggar
and Keith Richards and All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan.
I can only find 2 songs that will need to be listened to a couple of times to grow........but otherwise very good.Smile Very bluesy, very good
horns and he can pick a guitar.
Check out Colbie Caillat (pronounced Callay) on iTunes....her single Bubbly is at number 4 on the top 100 list. She has a song called Tailor Made on her CD! Too funny!
She will be at MixFest this year which happens to be the same day as Taylor's show at the Big E. IMO she sounds like a blend of Toby Lightman and Corinne Bailey Rae. Smile

My iPod is full of male artists....I gravitate toward male musicians for some reason....I want to discover more woman who WOW me so I can balance things out a bit! Tongue
