Epic News of the Anthemic kind....

Anthemic
The term anthemic is not strictly a word, yet is used to describe music that has a particular presence to it/atmospheric feel.

In hardcore/punk an anthemic band would be one who have plentiful singalongs and a tight, melodic, and often heavy rhythm section. Bands such as Bane and With Honor are a good example of this.

Statement: "Woah this band are amazing, every song is really anthemic"

I'm not really sure I like it. It will have to grow on me.

I like the idea behind it, but it doesn't sound as cool as I think David deserves Cool

RE: Epic News of the Anthemic kind....
He definately has mentioned the term before when referring to his music so it must mean alot to him. I think Margaux even blogged about anthemic rock at oneforthevault.com when he first mentioned it.

I don't care what they are called!! I really like the first album and I want MORE!! It might not roll off the tongue yet but I do think DC is cool enough to pull it off.

.
Am sure Margaux supplied a list of bands that are referred to as "anthemic"

Seems to be generally agreed that Mr. Cook is a very bright guy.
Alt Rock / Pop Rock is a pretty crowded field . . maybe he would like to set himself and his sound apart from the other rock success to come out of Idol. Just a thought.

BTW . . read something a while ago about Arcade Fire being the first true example to emerge in the 21st century.

It was one of the blogs I follow on Twitter . . can't remember which one but AF is mentioned in this post by a blogger who adds his own thoughts to Spin Magazine's list.

Definitely agree that Queen is missing from Spin's list . . and some others as well . . The Decemberists for example.

Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent

I'll always feel like I'm "lithping" when I "thay" the name of that band Haha

Nevertheless, I'm sure it will be great and I wish him only the best! Smile
