Anders Osborne - Nawlin's stye bkues
.
Cool . . . was thinking of starting something like this when I did the thread for Anders Osborne in Other Artists a few nights ago. I'll move his info over here.

Re-post from 9/5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An online friend from New Orleans went to a show featuring local musicians last night.
She tweeted the link to Anders Osborne's MySpace. Really liking him . . . check out his harp work in the song Katrina.

RE: Lisa's New Music Finds
Lisa, I think I remember that you are going to the Fredericton festival again this year.
I've been using their artists page as a song sampler again . . great way to check out new groups or individuals.
I highly recommend checking out Matt Andersen.

http://www.harvestjazzandblues.com/artists.html

For those of you not familiar with the page . . click on a name in the list and their info, an audio player and usually a video will appear on the left.

Adding a video of Matt . . have been keeping track of him for about 1 1/2 years . . he just keeps getting better and better. Was going to go to Fredericton just for his show but he sold out in a flash. Think he is no longer New Brunswick's best kept secret.

Yeah I couldn't seem to get excited about the line up either. Only one I really wanted to see was Matt Andersen and he sold out really fast . . maybe even while they were still adding acts.

As you said . . maybe next year . . . .

RE: Lisa's New Music Finds
Stumbled over this site via Twitter and immediately thought of you . .

12bar Blues Guitar

Looks like there is a lot to explore there . . .

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

As to Levon Helm . . definitely one of the icons of music . . especially in the indie world.
You might want to check out his two newest albums too. "Dirt Farmer "won the 2008 Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Recording. "Electric Dirt " has been nominated in the Grammy's new Americana classification as Best Americana album of 2009 . There is an excellent write up about the ED album on his website.

You must have seen some information on LH's famous Midnight Rambles while reading up on him. He still does them at his "barn" in Woodstock, NY. Be sure to scroll to the bottom and click the link for past guest performers.

http://levonhelm.com/midnight_ramble.htm

I'm just a tad excited about the sold out January 9th show . . and no, I'm not going (sadness) . . roughly 200 people in his personal studio and my favorite band guesting is more than worth a $150 ticket ... but driving to Woodstock in January = coward Fear
