Siobhan Magnus - Cape Cod Idol?
Siobhan (pronounced shuh-VON) Magnus is a 2008 graduate of Barnstable High School, and is one of the few season 9 idols who gained points last week with her cool performance of the song I most wanted to hear Adam Lambert since last year, Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game".

If she makes top 12, she'd replace Ayla Brown as most successful Boston-area Idol contestant.

Quote:A few short weeks ago, Magnus was best known in her hometown for starring in lavishly produced school musicals - she played Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz’’ her senior year - and for fronting an alt-rock band called Lunar Valve, which plays local clubs and dances in the Hyannis area.

One of her uncles is the bass player for Stryper.

She loves cats, the Red Sox, and ice hockey; she’s worked as an apprentice glassblower at Morrison Glass Studio in Hyannis; She'd fit right in with our gang!

If she makes top 3, is Hyannis ready for an Idol homecoming?

RE: Siobhan Magnus - Cape Cod Idol?
I think she'll definitely be on tour. She's already standing out among the girls and Simon seems to love her. We're already seeing signs here-big billboard at the rotary telling people to vote, little blurbs on breakfast place marquis, etc.
We were just saying last night it would be exciting to have Idol come to town!
Since nothing ever happens here it would be fairly huge! Road trip great idea! Huggy

RE: Siobhan Magnus - Cape Cod Idol?
While I don't think Siobhan's the best singer, she's a fun singer. Her personality cracks me up.

There are a few girls who are better singers that seem sure to break down in a bundle of nerves (and don't they every year!). Siobhan doesn't have that issue. So it looks good that we'll see her on tour.

She's getting very good buzz in my tour of the blogs tonight.

An article giving a little history on Siobhan:

http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.d...WS/3280329

It surprises no one who knows the Magnus family that Siobhan would be involved in the arts.

"Alan Magnus has been a charismatic rock-and-roll band member and piano player since he attended Barnstable High School's alternative learning program in the 1970s.

His brother, Dave, taught him to play the piano with the song "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals.

"I thought my brother wrote it," Alan said.

Alan, in turn, taught Siobhan piano with the same song.

And in a gesture typical of Siobhan's thoughtfulness, she sang the soulful tune on "American Idol" while her father was with her in Hollywood."
